I found that the photographs I took (35mm) during the day of the Dungeness trip reflected and encompassed the visual idea I have been trying to communicate through painting/drawing: that is - the interaction of small shapes and lines within a visual space. The pebbles/random stones/feathers that are littered throughout Dungeness harmoniously interact with their surroundings to create intimate and new spaces, only seen if one looks for them or studies their surroundings (they are not immediately obvious). I found this particularly evident in photographs I took of small sections of fragmented ground where feathers and litter interact with smaller stones to create a new landscape within a small patch of grass. These seemingly insignificant pieces of 'litter' work together within their natural space to create a new and interesting form of landscape - through the lines and space they create within each other. e.g: the white feathers balancing against the grey hued stones etc. I also like the contrast these images have with pictures of weathered objects or materials - such as the beach driftwood which has formed it's own lines and shapes - these also appear to echo small waves or other beach-themed motifs. The combination of these earth toned ground-scenes and the more oceanic wood pieces interact well with one another and I would like to attempt to display a selection of photographs which evidence this.
